Karnataka make dismal start

Railways got the better of Karnataka 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 in 50 minutes. TN and Haryana men posted contrasting victories in their Group B matches.

TN won comfortably against Uttarakhand 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 while Haryana had to toil hard before beating Kerala 20-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 15-8.

In a Group C encounter, Chhattisgarh registered a hard-fought 17-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-19 win over Jharkhand.

Chattisgarh, who had scored a convincing 25-8, 25-8, 25-12 win against Andaman and Nicobar on Monday, lost the first set but made up for the loss by clinching the next three sets in a match that lasted 70 minutes.

In the women’s category, Delhi, who had defeated Uttarkhand on Monday, posted a resounding 25-7, 25-17, 25-14 win over Bihar in their Group F encounter.
