A grand cake-mixing ceremony was held at Le Meridian recently and a number of guests turned up for it. The atmosphere was cheerful as the guests wore the chef’s hat and apron and helped in the mixing. Around 100 kgs of fruits were spread on the table waiting to be soaked in liquor.

The guests used all their energy to mix the fruits and the liquid, that will be used
to make the delicious Christmas cake.

Some of the items used for the mixing were small sultans, walnuts, orange peels, walnuts, black raisins, dry blue berries, mini mixed peels, dry prunes, almonds, red dry cranberries, dry figs and dry black currants. Turkish apricot was a special ingredient used this year.

This cake will be on sale December 13 onwards along with various other Christmas goodies. Some of the guests who attended the event were Anitha Bhat, Swetha Sanjeevulu, Veena Bhat, Roopa Mouli, Chinukala, Veena Jain, Rekha Jain, Neeta Rajendran, Chandra, Reshma Kunhi, Sangeeta Belani, Padmaja and Usha Subramanium.

Said Veena Jain, the owner of One Stop Milano, “Christmas is a wonderful occasion where families meet, have fun and party while they relish some delicious Christmas cakes.”

Sandalwood actress Swetha Sanjeevulu said, “Cake-mixing has become a tradition in India now as we welcome Christmas with lots of joy and gifts. I enjoyed attending this event as I caught up with my friends for a chat after a long time.”

Reshma Kunhi was taking part in a celebration like this for the second time, the first time being in New York. “Over there, it is celebrated on a large scale. It was a different experience here and I enjoyed every bit of it.”

The event became all the more fun with a high tea that followed where the ladies chatted with each other over coffee and cookies.
