JOIN USTwo minor girls who were reportedly sexually assaulted by four people at Iguru village in Sakaleshpur taluk of Hassan district.
Police said that both girls had gone missing from their houses. Parents of one of the girls had lodged a missing complaint at Yasaluru police station on Tuesday. As the girl was a minor, a kidnap case was registered.
However, the girls returned to their houses on Wednesday and told their parents about the assault. Later, they told police that Nirvana Shetty, Sudhakar, Vishwanath and Lokesh, all residents of Iguru village, had sexually assaulted them.
Police have already arrested Nirvana Shetty and Sudhakar and the remaining two suspects are absconding. A special team has been formed to trace them.
Meanwhile, Women and Child Development Minister Umashree met the Melkote rape survivor at the district hospital in Mandya. Speaking to reporters, she said that steps would be taken to amend existing laws so as to ensure severe punishment for rapists.
