<p>A 25-year-old man was battered to death by two unidentified men in east Delhi’s Trilokpuri on Monday. The victim’s head was also crushed with a stone to hide the identity, police said.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Police denied any link of the murder with the three-day communal clashes reported in the area last month.<br /><br />The victim was identified as Bunty with the help of a tattoo on his arm. Police said the incident was reported around 5 am.<br /><br />“Eyewitnesses saw two men attacking Bunty. He was heard begging for his life and that he would return money to the attackers,” said a police officer.<br />Initially, none of the locals went forward to help Bunty.<br /><br />After a while, a woman named Shivani heard loud screams and then found a body in a drain. She made a call to the police control room.<br />“The man was declared dead on the spot and his face was crushed beyond recognition,” the officer added.<br /><br />The body was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital after a crime and forensic team inspected the spot.<br /><br />During enquiry, Bunty’s mother Rajni claimed that he had not returned home since early morning.<br /><br />Rajni was taken to Mayur Vihar police station where she identified the body with the help of photographs.<br /><br />“Photographs of a tattoo on Bunty’s right arm was shown to her,” the officer said.<br />Rajni told police that Bunty was her only son who was married and had two children.<br />On being questioned, she denied being aware of Bunty having any personal enmity.<br />Police said Bunty used to work in malls in the area, but was currently unemployed.<br />Police have analysed the call data records of Bunty’s mobile phone to identify the attackers. <br /><br />“No arrest has been made so far,” the officer added.<br />A case of murder has been filed with Mayur Vihar police station.<br />After an initial probe, it is suspected that Bunty had borrowed money from friends and failed to return it on time due to unemployment.<br /></p>
