<p>Bon-D-Light Express, dedicated to spread awareness about the deficiency of Vitamin D, halted at the Chinmaya Mission Hospital in the City on Tuesday. <br /><br />Scheduled to travel to 15 cities across the country, Bon-D-Light Express will be accompanied by six drama artistes who will perform 116 plays in 15 cities. <br />The plays aim to bring out all health and wellness aspects linked with Vitamin D deficiency in the human body. <br /><br />These plays would be scripted in the local language for better reach. <br />The All India Institute of Medical Sciences and HEAL Foundation, in association with Glenmark, had launched Bon-D-Light Express in Delhi on the World Vitamin D Day. <br /><br />The Express also has an expert healthcare specialist who will educate people on the deficiency of Vitamin D in regular Indian diet and the need for the right supplements which would meet the daily required Vitamin D for healthy functioning of human body. <br /> <br />Chinmaya Mission Hospital Medical Director Dr Sudhir said “In a country like India where people are largely oblivious to the role of Vitamin D in maintaining good health, such initiatives will not just help in increasing awareness among people but also in improving their general wellbeing.”<br /><br />“It is important for people to understand that Vitamin D deficiency doesn’t have any early signs and symptoms which can act as marker to judge extent of the problem. <br /><br />The body continues to function in a seemingly normal way, but at a mature stage in life, chronic deficiency could lead to serious health complications. Hence the need for early intervention and regular supplementation is very important,” Dr Sudhir added. <br /></p>
