The Oriental view

Last Updated 28 November 2014, 15:12 IST

An unexpected slice of Asia carefully comes together on the busy driveway of MG Road in the form of ‘The Tao Terraces’. At first glimpse, the breathtaking decor leaves a person shocked.

The two-level restaurant blends rich decor and cuisines from nine Oriental countries to offer the diner a good experience. Whether it’s the experience of the temples of Thailand, lounging on the beaches of Bali, eating piping hot sate from Korean grills or enjoying simple and delicious Japanese sushi, there is the best of all the cultures. The striking Buddhist stupa, gold leaf ceilings in the main fine-dining area, which are complemented by Buddhist sculptures, paintings and low casual sofas, add to the ambience of the restaurant.

One is spoilt for choice with items like ‘dim sum’, ‘yakatori grill’, sushi and sashimi. Specials on the menu change everyday and often include favourites such as ‘Singapore chilli crab’, ‘hawker style chicken’, ‘Indonesian sambal jumbo prawns’, ‘sliced fish with lemon grass’ and lobsters, depending on the season. Other food items on the menu include ‘prawn hargow’, ‘Shanghai chicken dumpling’, ‘pot stickers pan fried dumplings’, ‘broccoli almond bean curd dumpling’, ‘roasted lamb black pepper and steamed broccoli’ and more.

Lunch is served on all days (including weekends) from 12 pm to 3 pm, with an all-you-can-eat buffet. ‘The Tao Terrace’ is located at 1MG Mall; for more details, call 9986911444.
