World under a roof

Tucked away near Palm Meadows in Whitefield is the fine-dining restaurant ‘The Fat Chef’, which offers world cuisine to the people of the City. Started around three years ago, the restaurant offers the best food from different parts of the world under one roof. “In a restaurant that caters only to one type of cuisine, one is restricted by choice,” says the owner of the place, Matheen.

Some of the dishes that are available here areCalifornia rolls, Nigiri sushi and chicken yakitori. The place also has a variety of salads like Greek salad, Asian salad and Caprese salad. The starters and main course here include ‘chilli cheese toast’, ‘bruschetta done in two ways’, Thai green curry with rice and eggplant parmigiana. Some of the desserts available here are lemon key pie, lemon grass and ginger creme brule and New York cheesecake.

A large number of Indians enjoy the Italian food served here as they feel there is a lot of similarity between the two cuisines. The restaurant also has a lot of expats coming in. “Be it young or old, we have expats who come in with their families to savour the taste of home here,” he adds.

He says that the chefs are trained in the City and their head chef is Vandana, who was trained in Europe. ‘The Fat Chef’ also organises open mic, stand-up comedy nights every Tuesday, 8.30 pm onwards. “That’s when we get a lot of crowd and the expats seem to love it,” he says.

The restaurant is located at Jagriti, Varthur Main Road, Whitefield. For details, call 4099 2981.
