A 22-year-old woman has alleged that she was raped by a man working with the SDM’s office in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala. The accused has been arrested, police said on Friday.

The victim is a resident of north Delhi’s Rani Bagh. She claimed that she had met the accused while looking for a loan under a government scheme. She had contacted Uttam Nagar-resident Arvind through a common friend.

It is alleged that Arvind assured her that he would help her get a loan and told her to meet at a house in Rohini sector 11. On Wednesday, she went to the house where she was offered a cold drink. “The drink was allegedly laced with sedatives as the woman lost consciousness,” said a police officer.

When she regained her senses, she found that she had been raped. She reported the matter with Prashant Vihar police station on which a case was filed. Her medical examination was conducted at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, which confirmed sexual assault.

Police have arrested Arvind. He told police that the house in Rohini belongs to a relative. However, he refused to have raped the woman and claimed that she had misbehaved with him at the SDM’s office.
