Indian eves look for a change of fortune

The Indian women’s side, smarting from a 1-2 reverse at the hands of their South African counterparts during the three-match ODI series, will be aiming to overturn their fortunes when the two teams meet for a one-off T20I here at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.

With the likes of Shikha Pandey and Harmanpreet Kaur showing good form with the bat, the onus will be on skipper Mithali Raj to halt her lean patch, and come up with a sizeable contribution.

The Proteas, for their part, did come back well to win the series after losing the second match and will rely on the likes of Nadine Moodley and skipper Mignon du Preez to come good.

The dangerous Chloe Tryon, who missed the deciding game because of an illness, could come in place of Nonkhululeko Thabethe.

The early start to the encounter (10.00 am IST) might also have an impact on how the teams approach the game on the morrow.

With dew not being a factor, the captain winning the toss might opt to bat first, bucking the trend during the ODI series.

The South African eves do start favourites but the Indian lower order do have some serious ammunition.
