<p>Athani tahsildar was injured after illegal sand miners threw stones at a raid party which swooped down on an illegal sand quarry at Naganur AP village in the taluk, late on Friday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to sources, a team of revenue officials headed by Athani Tahsildar S S Pujari raided an illegal sand quarry on the banks of Agrani nala (canal) at Naganur AP village, around 15 km from Maharashtra border, and seized a truck. The men at the quarry hurled stones at the raid party and the tahsildar sustained minor injuries in the incident.<br /><br />Pujari told Deccan Herald that the men later threw stones at their vehicle damaging the windshield. The tahsildar lodged a complaint against 15 persons and Athani police have arrested five suspects till now. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the rest.<br /></p>
