Junior engineer becomes billionaire in just 30 years

In three decades, Yadav Singh, who started his career as a junior engineer, not only went on to become the engineer-in-chief of Noida Authority but also allegedly amassed wealth over Rs 1,000 crore through shady deals and shell companies.

The income tax raids at Yadav Singh’s Noida house as well as at the residences of his business partners and others have reportedly unearthed unaccounted cash, jewellery and other assets worth thousand of crores.

According to sources here on Saturday, Singh, who was removed from his post after the raids, was likely to be suspended shortly.

Sources said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also sought details of the transactions as it suspected money laundering.

Sources said that Singh had offered to surrender Rs 50 crore to the I-T department, but the offer was rejected.

Singh’s journey to the post of chief engineer seems more filmy than real.
He is said to have strong connections with politicians from almost every party. He had assumed responsibility of the chief engineer at Noida Authority in 2011 during Mayawati’s regime.

Singh had been suspended by the Samajwadi Party government in 2012 and a probe was ordered.

But even though the probe was on, he was made chief engineer. A red corner notice had also been issued against him after he disappeared following his suspension.

Singh’s re-appointment to the same post had invited flak from different quarters, but the government held firm.

According to sources here, I-T sleuths stumbled upon Singh’s diary, which reportedly contains the names of several people, including politicians and officials apart from details of his transactions.

The state government too could order fresh probe against Singh and he might also be arrested, sources said.

The tenders allotted by him could be cancelled, the sources added.
