Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been sent an invite to attend a wedding ceremony at Jayapur, a village in his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi, which he had adopted recently.

Residents of the village feel that Modi was now “like a family member” and therefore, the invite has been sent to him.

Modi has been invited to attend the marriage ceremony of Jyoti Kumari.
The marriage would be solemnised on Monday, and preparations were in full swing.
“We want the Prime Minister to attend the marriage ceremony,” said Jyoti’s mother Shyam Dulari.

“Modi is now our guardian after adopting our village,” she added.
She said the family members as well as other residents of the village will be very happy if Modi blessed the girl.

The invitation card to Modi has been sent through post a week ago.
Jyoti’s family members also said they wished Modi would perform some rituals at the ceremony.

Many residents of the village also Modi’s presence at their functions.
“The Prime Minister will now be invited at every function at the village,” another villager said.

Modi had, during his recent visit to Varanasi, adopted Jayapur, 15 km from Varanasi town.

He had addressed a meeting at the village, where he announced a slew of projects for the village.

Many of the residents, however, were not sure if the Prime Minister would be able to spare time to attend the marriage ceremony and bless the couple.
