The films you choose establish you

Making her mark in Tollywood, Kriti Sanon is the latest outsider in Bollywood industry. The striking tall actress, who is the brand ambassador for Gillette, is busy shooting for her upcoming films. “I am currently shooting for three films.

‘Singh is Bling’ opposite Akshay Kumar, ‘Farzi’ with Shahid Kapoor and another one, a Tollywood movie opposite Naga Chaithanya,” says the model-turned actor Kriti.

Sharing her excitement about these shoots, she says, “There are a few songs left to shoot with Naga Chaithanya. I am very thrilled about these films. I will be acting with action king Akshay Kumar who plays a sardar in the movie. It is a lot of fun shooting with both Akshay and Shahid.”

The actress has also been taking kickboxing classes to match the action king. “I am a western dance teacher in the film ‘Singh is Bling’. I have a lot of action sequences too. I am cast opposite Akshay Kumar who is excellent in action scenes. I am hence taking kickboxing classes to match action king Akshay Kumar.”

Marking a successful debut in both Bollywood and Tollywood, she says, “The films you choose establish you as an actor. So, it is important to choose the right kind of film. I choose the film keeping the audience in mind. I think from the audience perspective and see if I as a member of the audience would want to watch the film. I also believe that the film chooses you.”

The BTech graduate who chose acting, talks about her journey to the film industry. “I was doing my second year in BTech. My friends always asked me to try modelling as I had the height and the physique. Taking their opinion, I tried modelling and later did a few commercials. I loved the process of shooting and facing the camera. I enjoyed it and felt confident about it. A few ad directors told me that I had a nose for acting. That is when I decided to take up acting as a career,” she says.

A trained dancer herself, she has her interests in poetry. “I love dancing. I was trained in kathak style of dancing. I got my base from there. I also wrote poems. The last poem I penned down was for my ‘dadaji’ (grandfather) after his death.” She also says, “I want to start writing poems again. I do not have time for it. I need the time, the space and the mood for it. But I will surely get back to writing poems soon.”

The actor, who is presently single, defines her picture of a perfect man. “A perfect partner is the guy who is confident. His confidence should be seen in the body language. First impression is always the best impression. I prefer clean shaven men as they look the best. I also feel very safe in their company,” she concludes.
