A death sentence convict from Mysuru, Nanjappa Shivnanjappa, 25, lodged in the Central Prison, Hindalga, here committed suicide by hanging in the toilet block in the condemned cell of the prison on Saturday evening.
Official sources said, Nanjappa was convicted and sentenced to death by Mysuru District Court on February 23, 2013 in connection with a murder case registered against him during February 2011.
Nanjappa hanged himself with a bedsheet in the toilet block of the condemned cell. The incident came to light at 7.30 pm when one of the convicts in the cell was missing.
During the search he was found hanging in the toilet.
