<p>“His condition is stable and he is responding to treatment,” nursing home director D N Agarwal told newsmen here after issuing a medical bulletin.<br /><br />A five-member medical board has been constituted to assist the nursing home authorities for treating 96-year-old Basu and veteran medicine specialist Mani Chhettri has been drafted as adviser to the board. <br /><br />“Basu is fully conscious and has been given liquid diet.The board examined Basu this morning and decided to keep him in the ICCU for two more days,” Agarwal said.<br /><br />Basu who is being administered intravenous antibiotics, was removed to the nursing home on Friday following chest congestion and infection.</p>
