Applications invited for starting PU colleges

The Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE) has invited applications from educational trusts wanting to set up new pre-university colleges in the State. Applications can be submitted from December 12.

A district-level inquiry committee will look into the validity of the applications by inspecting the places where the colleges are proposed to come up, said a circular from the department in Tuesday. The responsibility of constituting the inquiry committee rests with the district deputy directors of pre-university education (DDPUEs).

The inspection committee will have a chairperson, the senior-most principal of the district government PU college, and a member, senior-most principal of a government aided college in the district. The DDPUEs should ensure that either the chairperson or the member is from the science department. The committee has to be constituted in accordance with the Pre-university Education Rules (2006), said a circular issued by DPUE director Sushama Godbole.

Interested Trusts can submit applications from December 12 to 22. The application fee will be Rs 36,000. The last date to submit the letter of intent is December 27. The district inquiry committees will inspect the premises for the proposed colleges and will give a report to the DPUE by February 13, 2015. The same will be forwarded to the government for consideration by March 10.
