Maoist leaders Sirimane Nagaraj is a free bird after he surrendered on Monday. But Noor Zulfikar alias Sridhar, who surrendered along with Nagaraj is not so lucky.

Zulfikar, who faces four serious cases against him, has been remanded in judicial custody till December 23, when the court hears his case.

He was sent to the NR Pura jail under heavy police security. Nagaraj has been granted conditional bail till December 23. The two were produced before the judge at the Koppa court on Tuesday afternoon.

A case of creating unrest and distributing pamphlets against the government had been registered against Nagaraj in the Sringeri police station in 2002.

Zulfikar is accused in four cases of serious offence in Udupi and Chikkamagaluru districts.

The cases include the one registered in the Sringeri police station limits, of setting a bike on fire. The judge Raju refused to grant bail to Zulfikar and remanded him in judicial custody.
