<p>A soft skills training programme was organised for constables by Delhi Traffic Police at Delhi University's Shivaji College on Monday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>It was a first-of-its-kind exercise aimed at ensuring better communication between traffic police personnel and road users.<br /><br />“We began with a batch of 150 personnel, both male and female participants,” a police officer said. Similar batches will attend subsequent sessions.<br /><br />The programme includes issues ranging from general conversational skills and improving first impressions to personal development through meditation and motivational talks.<br /><br />It has been started on a trial basis by the Western Range of Delhi Traffic Police, but will be repeated in other ranges, if found successful.<br /><br />“This training will help our personnel engage with the public more effectively and perhaps even allow them enough time to pass a few suggestions on road safety to the public in the process,” the officer added.</p>
