Boyle's debut 'I Dreamed a Dream' has just overtaken the 2.3 million US sales of Jackson’s Number Ones collection by several thousand with her sights now on taking over country-pop darling Taylor Swift whose album  'Fearless' has notched up a formidable 2.7 million sales since its release in 2009, Daily Express reported.

"Susan is on the crest of a phenomenal sweep. Her album has been available only weeks and is already closing in fast on Taylor's CD, which has been available all year. There is very little doubt that I Dreamed A Dream will end up as 2009's top-seller," a top US chart forecaster said.

Worldwide, the 48-year-old Scottish singer has sold six million CDs since her album was released weeks ago. It also raced straight to the top of the charts in Japan and Australia.

In her native, the UK Official Chart Company has noted that 'I Dreamed A Dream' has sold more than 130,000 copies on its first day of release, growing to 410,000 by the end of the week which are the biggest first-week sales for a debut album in British chart history.

"After all of the excitement surrounding her appearance on Britain's Got Talent, everyone expected her to make a big impact but to arrive with such a bang is exceptional," Martin Talbot, of the Official Charts Company said.
