Halladinne road cries for attention

Woes of residents
Last Updated 16 December 2014, 17:29 IST

Residents of Halladinne in Abboorukatte ZP constituency are sore over the village lacking basic facilities including road.

The village is situated on the periphery of Kusubooru and Nerugalale gram panchayats.
The surface of the road has been chipped off causing inconvenience to the villagers.

None of the elected representatives have taken any interest in developing the road. Nabard had released Rs 45 lakh to develop Kusubooru-Beloor road to connect to Halladinne. However, 300 metre road is pending to be developed.

From Abboorukatte ZP constituency, Jayamma, V M Vijaya and Shivappa have served as the President of the Kodagu ZP in the past. However, they have failed to provide a facelift to the road. The villagers said that the estate owners have encroached land belonging to road. Students from Kusubooru, Belooru, Kenchammanabane and Halladinne use the same road to reach colleges and schools in Sowarpet.

“A few poor students have to walk barefoot on this road which is filled with gravels. None of the school buses come to the village owing to its pathetic condition. A few vehicles drop the students midway,” said villager Venkappa.

‘Have to walk’
Even autorickshaws fail to travel to the village. As a result, the villagers have to carry fertilisers and food grains on the head to reach their houses. The road is situated just a two and half kilometre away from the town.

The authorities should turn their eyes towards the pathetic condition of the road and repair it.

ZP member B Shivappa said that the road will be developed in the future.
