Asaram supporter held for trying to hurl shoe at judge

Culprit wanted to teach a lesson to judge hearing godman's case

A 37-year-old man has been arrested for waiting in the courtroom to throw a shoe on the judge hearing the  sexual harassment case against Asaram.

Culprit Akshya Shivam Shukla is from Allahabad and is one of the disciples of Asaram. 

Jodhpur police said Shukla claimed that he is reincarnation of Lord Shiva and has come here to teach a lesson to the judge who is hearing the Asaram case. 

Shukla was arrested when he was standing in the courtroom with a shoe in his hand. The hearing of the case was postponed for a few minutes as the judge was in his chamber nearby. 

In the investigations, Shukla admitted that he was waiting for the judge to come back to his seat after which he had planned to throw the shoe on him. “Shukla became Asaram’s disciple in 2001 and since then, he treats himself as Lord Shiva,” said a police officer of Jodhpur range. 

In the investigations also, he claimed that he is Lord Shiva and has come to teach a lesson to all those who were troubling his master, he added. 

Police said while standing in the courtroom, Shukla was constantly accusing the judge of not doing justice. In the courtroom, he claimed openly that he will throw the shoe in protest. 

The hearing of rape and sexual harassment case on Asaram is taking place in district and sessions court of Jodhpur city on a daily basis. Asaram is brought to court 

daily and a number of his supporters remain present in the court. Earlier also, supporters of Asaram had become violent following which heavy police force was deployed every day during the hearing.

A month back, a station house officer in Jodhpur had lodged an FIR that a few supporters of Asaram were making threat calls to him and his family.
