State teams crash out

The Karnataka men were outclassed in straight sets by Tamil Nadu, who won 25-18, 25-20, 25-16. The women, who had battled past Uttar Pradesh to earn a quarterfinal berth on Sunday, went down 23-25, 24-26, 25-17, 25-14 to Andhra Pradesh.

Defending champions Railways marched into the women’s semifinal with a comfortable 25-18, 25-13, 25-10 victory over Chandigarh.

In the men’s category, Uttarakhand and Haryana made it to the final four with contrasting wins. Uttarakhand overcame a gritty challenge from Punjab before winning 25-22, 18-25, 26-28, 25-17, 15-13 while Haryana overpowered Services 25-16, 25-18, 25-18.

Joining them in the semifinals were Kerala, who got the better of Rainwals 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-13.
