The vacation bench of the High Court on Tuesday ordered issuance of notices to the State government and Senior Superintendent, Bangalore Central Prisons, Parappana Agrahara, with regards to a habeas corpus petition filed by Arun Krishna Sail, brother of Karwar MLA Satish Sail.

Hearing the petition, Justice L Narayanaswamy and Justice B Manohar issued ordered of notices.

The petitioner has contended that Satish Sail was booked in seven different cases with regards to illegal iron ore stacked up at the Belekeri port in Karwar.

He was arrested in the case, however, the CBI court had granted him bail for the main case for which he was arrested. For the remaining six cases, body warrant was issued by the lower court judge to produce him before the court, however, the advocate appearing for Arun Sail has contended that when Satish Sail has been granted bail for the main case, he cannot be detained in the jail for the other six cases.

The bench ordered notices and adjourned the next hearing to Friday.
