7 women robbed of gold chains

Seven women were robbed of their gold chains by miscreants in different parts of the City on Tuesday.

Two unidentified men on a bike, on the pretext of enquiring about an address, engaged Rajeshwari, 68, in a conversation at 12.30 pm near her house. As she showed them the direction, the duo snatched  her 70-gm gold chain and sped off. She injured her ears and had to be taken to a nearby hospital, the police said.

In Prashanth Nagar, around noon, two youths approached Usha, 68, adopting a similar modus operandi and snatched her 40-gm gold chain. Both the incidents took place in Vijayanagar.

In Central police station limits around 6.30 pm, a youth robbed a retired government employee, Komalamma, of her gold chain near the National High School grounds while she was on her way home. The suspect coming from opposite direction, snatched her chain and ran towards a youth waiting on a bike and the duo absconded.

In Madiwala, Elina D’Souza, a resident of Teachers Colony, HSR Layout, returning home in her car, was relieved of her gold chain when she stopped at the traffic signal, by two miscreants on bike, who then sped away.

Bhagyamma, 45, of Ajnanappa Layout, was robbed of her 80-gm gold chain, by two suspects who approached her asking for address. Though neighbours rushed to her rescue when she raised an alarm, the miscreants escaped.

In Thyagarajnagar at 6.10 pm, two youths approached Padmavathi, 52, standing in front of her house in Shastrinagar, and robbed her 80-gm gold chain.

In HBR Layout at 7.30 pm, two unidentified men robbed Bharathi, 53, returning home, of her 16-gram gold chain.
