Payment is now double

Bengaluru has trucks travelling with iron bars protruding and cement mix lorries occupying major space on the roads and have been a headache for commuters and traffic police alike. With the total vehicle population at 52 lakh in the city, the number is always going up sharply.

The truck population in the state has touched near two lakh which gives us a clue about how demand for infrastructure is high in the city. While real estate builders would want the lorries to arrive directly at the site of construction, the ban would mean that the goods from the heavier vehicles would have to be transferred to smaller vehicles, which they say multiplies the cost.

Not only should the vehicle that has brought in the load be paid, the new vehicle which will take the load to the interiors of the city will also have to be paid. In the former system, payment is only for one truck/lorry, while for two trucks, the payment goes up.
