5 killed in car-bus collision

 Five persons of two families from Hubballi were killed in a head-on-collision between a car and a bus at Sannekoppa cross near Hulidevarabana village in Sagar taluk on Friday.

The dead have been identified as Santosh Nair, 40, his wife Sapna, 34, daughter Sadika, 4, Umesh Jadar, 40, and his son Rohan, 8. Nanda, 35, wife of Umesh, and her son Suhan, 16, have sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at McGann Hospital in Shivamogga. The condition of both of them is said to be critical.

They were on their way to Sigandur, a pilgrimage centre, when the accident occurred.
It is said that both Santosh and Umesh were friends and they had planned to visit Sigandureshwari temple and Kollur with their family members.

The accident occurred when their car rammed the private bus coming from the opposite direction.

While Santosh Nair, Sapna and Rohan died on the spot, the other two breathed their last on the way to the hospital.
