Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said the government had recommended that the Centre hand over the investigation into all fresh cases registered against Rathore to the CBI.
Earlier, Panchkula SSP Maneesh Choudhary said the special investigation team, which was probing the fresh FIRs registered against Rathore, had pleaded with the State Government for a CBI probe.

A fresh case under Section 306 of the IPC (abetment to suicide) was registered against Rathore on Tuesday on a complaint of Ashu Girhotra, brother of the molestation victim, Ruchika who committed suicide in 1993. It was the third case to be registered against Rathore in the past one week following his conviction by a CBI court on December 21 last.

The Haryana police had last week registered two fresh cases against the former police chief on the complaints of Ashu and his father Subhash Chander Girhotra under various sections dealing with fabrication of the post-mortem report of Ruchika, illegal confinement, torture and attempt to murder.  “We are satisfied with the progress on the fresh probe against Rathore. We are thankful to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for his intervention,” said a visibly happy Girhotra at his residence in Panchkula.

Ruchika’s friend Aradhana, said: “We are hopeful that the CBI will give us a fair trial. Today, I feel that we will finally get justice.”
