Social activist T J Abhraham has issued a legal notice to the Governor Vajubhai Vala in connection with the State government’s decision to appoint former Legislative Council chairman V R Sudarshan as head of the Karnataka Public Service Commission.
In his notice to the governor, Abraham has said the appointment of Sudarshan amounts to violation of Supreme Court order. The apex court in one of its verdict in 2011 had stated that the public service commission should be free from political appointments.
Pointing out that Sudarshan was a three-time MLC from Congress and had even tried to contest Assembly elections on the party ticket, Abraham said that his proposed appointment violates the High Court order which was upheld by the Supreme Court. He has urged the governor not to accept the recommendation of the State government.
Abraham has also pointed out that other names, recommended by the Government, too were not suitable for the said post.
