Good looks and hairstyles are indeed inseparable. The right hairstyle enhances a person’s personality. A bad hair day can spoil the charm of any occasion.

And it is not just women who care and crib about their hair, men too take pains to experiment with trendy hairstyles and get creative with their looks.

The trend in hairstyles have come a long way from the simple step cut to short pixie cut and plain cut to coloured hair extensions. A peek into some of the hair salons in the City will give one an idea of the current hairstyle trends doing the rounds.

Body Craft salon has many who want to get a new look for their hair. “The customers we get are willing to experiment with new hairstyles. Most of them are going for short trendy haircuts. Pixie cuts and bob cuts are trendy in short hairstyles. And people who like long hair prefer the disconnected layer cuts,” says Swati Gupta, creative director of Body Craft.

She adds, “The men are mostly going for asymmetrical hairstyle that go well for formal and casual occasions. The mohawk hairstyle is fading and men want new looks now.” They also get a lot of clients for hair colouring. “Young girls mostly want to go for candy hair colours and have moved on from the typical styles. But the ombre colours are also in vogue now,” she says.

Another stylist from Naturals, a hair and beauty salon, is of a similar opinion. “Most of the clients go for short hair cuts now. The ones with long hair usually go for feather cuts. Streak and global colouring is also preferred by many,” says Vijay, a hairstylist at Naturals.

“And coming to smoothening and straightening, our clients are mostly going for the naturally smoothened look than the poker straight look,” he adds. BBlunt, another preferred salon for hairstyles, get people who mostly go with the stylists’ suggestions to make sure that haircuts they get suit their face.

“The clients we get usually ask us to suggest hairstyles according to their face cuts. But, short hairstyles are surely in trend this season. The clients are also experimenting with more vibrant hair colours like blue.

Clients with long hair usually go for blended or natural layers. We also get many clients for hair extensions who like longer coloured extensions,” says Ashina, a stylist at BBlunt. “And for the men, the quiff cuts are preferred. They are also experimenting with different hair colours too,” she signs off.
