Four killed in accident

Four people died when a lorry rammed a stationary Maruti van and a two-wheeler near the Seebi temple on National Highway-4 at Kallambella in Sira taluk of the district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when the lorry, coming from Tumakuru, rammed the van which had been parked on the roadside for replacing a punctured tyre and the two-wheeler which was moving slowly in front of it.

The deceased are: Sendilkumar and Varadaraju, the occupants of the Maruti van, who died on the spot and

Shivaprasad, 25, of Chikkaianapalya in Gubbi taluk and Jnanesh of Bengaluru - who were travelling on the two-wheeler and who died at the district hospital in Tumakuru.

Sendilkumar and Varadaraju were dealers in mosquito repellants hailing from Tamil Nadu and residing in Bengaluru.

They were on their way to Sira. The Kallambella police have registered a case and are investigating.
