Former BSF inspector shoots dead his relative

The duo had a heated exchange of words over land dispute

A former inspector with Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead his relative over a land dispute in Malenahalli under Channarayapatna police limits in Bengaluru Rural district on Friday.

According to police, Nagarajachari (55) was killed by his relative Manjunatha, a former BSF inspector, now working as an assistant general manager with a private security firm in the City. Both stay in adjacent houses and on Friday night Manjunatha came home and picked a quarrel with Nagarajachari. 

They argued over a land dispute and the argument soon resulted in a fisticuff. Ravi, a Home Guard and relative of the two men, tried to intervene, but was injured in the scuffle. However, Manjunatha, in a fit of rage, went to his house and brought his pistol. 

Succumbed to injuriesFamily members from both sides tried to stop Manjunatha from opening fire. But he charged towards Nagarajachari and shot him in his head.  Nagarajachari collapsed on the ground and succumbed to his injuries. He was rushed to the hospital by his family members but was declared brought dead. The police, who were informed of the incident, rushed to the spot and got to know that Manjunatha was fleeing on his bike. They chased and nabbed him near Budigere. The pistol in his possession was also seized.

A senior police officer said that recently, Nagarajachari had got a notice issued to Manjunatha over partition of  land. 

The latter was furious about it and both were frequently fighting over the issue. The fight turned violent on Friday and culminated in the death of Nagarajachari. A case has been registered.
