Last Updated 03 January 2015, 20:00 IST

Two suicides were reported in the City on Friday and Saturday.

Deepthi, 28, a doctor, committed suicide at her residence in Dodda Banaswadi under Banaswadi police limits in the early hours of Saturday, while Prakash, 26, a cab driver with a local vernacular television channel, hanged himself at his residence in Ganapathi Nagar, Rajagopalanagar, on Friday.

According to the police, Deepthi, a native of Prakasam District in Andhra Pradesh, was working as doctor in a private clinic in Ramamurthy Nagar, and residing with her relatives in Dodda Banaswadi.

Opposed to the alliance her parents had fixed recently, she had expressed her disinterest to both her friends and parents.

On Friday night, she returned home and locked herself inside her bedroom. Early Saturday, she called up her friend informing she was committing suicide and hanged herself even before the friend could rush and alert the victim’s relatives. The relatives and friend, on receiving no response to their knocks on the door, peeped into the room only to find her hanging.

The police, who were alerted, shifted the body for post-mortem and informed her parents. The parents of Prakash, in their complaint to the police stated that on Friday evening, their son returned home after work, went out to get food, rushed back home and hanged himself. The parents noticing him struggling for life, alerted the neighbours who immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital. But the doctors declared him brought dead, the police said.
