<p>An eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her 14-year-old neighbour at her house in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj on Friday. <br /><br />Police have apprehended the boy, who faces a rape charge. <br />The victim and the accused stay at Rangpuri Pahadi jhuggi cluster in Vasant Kunj. Police said the boy allegedly assaulted her with a pencil.<br /><br />After noticing that she was hurt, the girl’s mother took her to Safdarjung Hospital, where a medical examination confirmed sexual assault.<br /><br />In her statement to police, the girl’s mother said she had seen the boy and the girl playing on a bed at their home on Friday. <br /><br />The girl narrated to her mother how she was hurt while playing.<br />“The victim was not alone at the home when the incident took place,” said a police officer.</p>.<p><br />The boy fled from the home after the assault, while the girl was seen crying by her mother. After the victim’s medical examination, the hospital authorities informed police around 3 pm. On Saturday, police apprehended the boy at Rangpuri Pahadi.<br /><br />A case under Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered with Vasant Kunj South police station. <br /><br />The assault is categorised as rape under The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act. <br />DH News Service</p>
