JOIN USOver 300 families from HRBR Layout, 1st Block, Banaswadi , staged a protest on Friday opposing the move of State government and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), to demolish their houses built on revenue sites.
The residents, who sat on a dharna on Banaswadi Road, alleged that the BDA had formed the layout unauthorisedly, by acquiring the land 35 years ago.
“ Now, the revenue officials say that our houses are illegal. We have received an eviction notice from tashildar stating that houses constructed on revenue sites will be demolished. The notice was served on January 10 and we have been given seven days to vacate our houses,” they said.
The protesters said that most of the residents were are retired persons who had put in all their money on the house. They said that their efforts to contact local MLA, nd Home Minister K J George, and corporator Kodanda Reddy since Monday went in vain. “No politician has so far come to our help” they rued.
