Under Secretary, Urban development department, Siddique Pasha has recently (on January 6) ordered the prosecution of City Municipal Council (CMC) President S Nanjundaswamy by the Lokayukta court in connection with the amassing of disproportionate assets (DA) against his known sources of income.

A raid was conducted on the house of Nanjundaswamy, a nine-time councillor, in the city, by a team of officials — led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mysuru-Chamarajanagar district Lokayukta — on November 7, 2012. Then, it was estimated that the DA is 151.4 per cent, but now, it is said to be 233.99 per cent, with the unearthing of assets worth Rs 2.78 crore, besides expenditure of Rs 37.43 lakh — amounting to Rs 3.15 crore, earned in public life from 1969 to 2012.

Following the raid, the Lokayukta Additional Director General of Police had recommended Nanjundaswamy’s suspension from the CMC, on December 3, 2012. The final report of the probe by the Lokayukta Police was submitted to the Urban Development department on August 4, 2014.
