` 45 crore fund may lapse: Corporator

JD(S) Corporator Satish (Sandesh Swamy) on Friday alleged that MCC may lose Rs 45 crore, if it failed to utilise the available grants.


Swamy said, according to a recent circular from the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Bengaluru to MCC, the former may withdraw funds to the tune of Rs 45 crore sanctioned to civic body. A letter in this regard was received by the Superintending Engineer, MCC.
MLA’s house overvalued


Adding to the complaints of dereliction of duty on the part of the revenue officials in MCC, Chamaraja MLA Vasu on Friday revealed that, the revenue wing had overvalued the property tax of his house.


Vasu said, when he sent his personal assistant to pay the property tax for the current fiscal, the MCC staff calculated the tax up to Rs one lakh, including the arrears of previous three years.


In reality, Vasu explained that though the tax had been remitted, it had not been updated. The actual tax to be paid (for current year) was Rs 26,000.

Khata for beneficiaries


MCC council resolved to issue khata for the beneficiaries of different housing schemes, after obtaining an affidavit from them. To  avail the khata, the beneficiaries have to be submit an affidavit vouching that they will reside in the same and keep the property intact without mortgaging it to others. MCC Commissioner C G Betsurmath advised the council to take a decision during the standing committee meeting to validate the resolution. Officials were instructed to clear the pending applications for khatas before March.


New member takes oath

Seema Prasad, the new Corporator who was elected on BJP ticket in the by-elections to Ward 15, was sworn-in on Friday. Seema who took the oath in the name of God, promised to work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
