A bride, grooms and few charms

Last Updated 23 January 2015, 21:12 IST

Dolly ki Doli
Hindi (U/A) ¬
Cast: Sonam Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma
Director: Abhishek Dogra

It just takes Sonam Kapoor a glass of milk to con a dozen grooms. The “bride” drugs them all (in-laws are offered a tumbler, too) and decamps with the loot.

It happens once, twice, thrice and a hundred times over, yet none of the victims has taken a single photograph of “looteri dulhan” Dolly. Now, that’s a jolly good show!
Wish Sonam and her gang (pujari and granny included) injected some life into the proceedings.

Nothing much happens in the first half other than a Malaika Arora doing what she does best, and a few suitably stupid men waking up to realise that they have been squeezed dry by Sonam.

Of them, Rajkumar Rao stands out. In fact, he steals the thunder from Sonam who fills every frame, but doesn’t go beyond fluttering her eyelashes. Still, she charms the pants off all her beaus! Which also includes Pulkit Samrat, who plays a smitten cop, but is stiffer than his uniform.

A film with a heroine who has no interest in love and marriage should have been special. Sonam single-handedly ruins it.
