Now, a van that can scan moving vehicles

First of its kind in India, the American engineering marvel Z Backscatter van, which can scan moving vehicles and detect suspicious objects plied on Church Street in the City on Monday. It stationed on the same street, which had witnessed a bomb blast a month ago.

Speaking to Deccan Herald  E P Jayakar Rao, of Coxswain India Private Limited, said that his firm was marketing the American vehicle in India.

“It is a mobile unit, which can scan mobile or stationed vehicles while remaining stationary or moving. This can detect any suspicious looking thing in no time and can help detecting suspicious objects,” Rao said.

Rao added that the vehicle had many applications and could be used by the Excise, Customs, Defence and Police department. Presently five vehicles are in India of which one is in Mumbai while the four are with the firm only for demonstration purposes, he added.
