Friend stabs 27-yr-old man to death

A 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by his friend who robbed him in west Delhi’s Mianwali Nagar last week. The accused has been arrested, police said on Friday.

According to police, the two had met at a de-addiction centre in west Delhi’s Nihal Vihar.
On January 23, a call was made to the police control room regarding Shailender Singh being stabbed at his house in Paschim Vihar. He succumbed to his injuries at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital the next day.

There were no eyewitness to the incident, but Shailender’s parents said the house had been ransacked.

“During investigation, it was found that Shailender was a habitual drinker. Due to his bad habit, he frequently changed jobs and his wife had also left the house,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar.

On January 23, Shailender’s parents had gone to Gurgaon to meet their daughter. During questioning, locals told police that they had seen Shailender with his friend Dharamveer that day.

Dharamveer was detained for questioning and several rounds of interrogation blew the lid off the plot. Dharamveer told police that he was an e-rickshaw driver and a habitual drinker.

Last year, Dharamveer had met Shailender when they were admitted at Jeevan Jyoti Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Nihal Vihar.

On January 22, Shailender went to the rehabilitation centre for counselling. While returning home, Shailender met Dharamveer who took him home. There they consumed alcohol.

Later, they went to Shailender’s house had some more liquor. In the house, Dharmaveer saw some valuable articles and tried to rob them.

Shailender, however, overpowered Dharmaveer and decided to hand him over to police.
“Dharmaveer then repeatedly stabbed Shailender and fled with robbed articles,” Kumar added.

Dharamveer was arrested on Thursday and the robbed articles recovered.
