Good Fight

The finale of Vodafone, ‘Battle of the Bands 2015’ concluded on a high note recently, at UB City, and the band, ‘What’s in a name?’ from ‘Sound-Awake’ won the competition.

Music enthusiasts were enthralled by the iconic corporate band competition. It was organised in association with English music radio station, Indigo and six finalists fought it out for ultimate glory. The six finalists were ‘Bauls and Blues’ from Amazon, ‘Yuga Negative’ from Infosys, ‘SuperMash’ from Paypal, ‘What’s in a name?’ from Sound-Awake, ‘Perfect Strangers’ from Dell and ‘Brahma Approachers’ from Flipkart.

The high-octane competition was judged by eminent music personalities like Vasu Dixit, the lead vocalist of ‘Swarathma’; Aarti Rao, a singer and the owner of BFlat, Kishan Balaji, a drummer and Behram, the lead singer of ‘One Nite Stand’. Sharing their excitement, Abdul, the vocalist from ‘What’s in a name’, said, “It feels great to win the competition and helm the tag of Best Corporate Band of 2015.”

The theme for this 2015 edition was ‘Organ Donation’ and every song was dedicated to help save lives by spreading greater awareness on the cause and understanding why it can be one of the most important humanitarian decisions taken by anybody. More than 2,500 organs were pledged during the campaign. The grand finale also saw a power-packed performance by the Bengaluru-based, folk/fusion band ‘Swarathma’. The music enthusiasts of more than 5,000 people enjoyed their popular tracks like ‘Pyaasi’, ‘Patte Saare’, ‘Bolo Kya Hua’ and ‘Sur Mera’.
