NICE denies hiring goons

“NICE, at no point of time, has hired any unlawful elements (goons) nor has it indulged in any illegal activity against a farmer,” a statement from the company said.

On the contrary, NICE claimed, that more than 85 per cent of the farmers in the area had voluntarily given their lands for the project by accepting the compensation fixed by the State Government in 2004.

Meanwhile, the farmers' protest against land acquisition for the project continued for the third day on Friday. With JD (S) Chief HD Devegowda rallying behind them, the protest is expected to intensify.
