311 centenarians on roll

9,369 homeless also eligible to vote in Delhi election

There are 311 electors aged over 100 years who are eligible to exercise their right to vote in these Assembly elections, the Delhi electoral office said on Thursday.

The total number of voters is 1,33,09,078, comprising 73,89,089 males, 59,19,127 females and 862 third gender electors.

There has been a rise of 2,38,159 voters after the publication of the final electoral roll on January 5, the election office said. In the 2013 Assembly elections, the total number of electors was 1,19,32,069 with 66,11,363 males, 53,20,144 females and 562 others.

According to the electoral office, the gender ratio of electoral roll is 801 in these Assembly polls.

There are 2,27,316 first-time voters between 18 and 19 years old. They form 1.70 per cent of total electors. A total of 36,93,975 electors fall under the age group of 20 and 29 years.

In all there are some 9,369 homeless people eligible to vote. The Delhi election office said that efforts have been made to provide infrastructure for seamless travel till the polling compartment for disabled voters.

“Some 400 wheelchairs have been received from the central government’s Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, to be deployed in each polling station,” it said.

Also, the polling stations will have volunteers with ‘May I Help You’ tags. “Volunteers are being deployed at all 2,530 polling premises for attending to voters with disabilities,” it added.

“The arrangements are being made in association with the civic agencies concerned that are responsible for setting up polling stations, the central government’s Department of Disability Affairs and several NGOs,” it said.

As per directions issued by the Election Commission of India, all voters who have been issued electoral photo identity card (EPIC) have to produce the card for identification at the polling station. “Those electors who are not able to produce EPIC should have either a passport or driving licence, PAN card or Aadhar card as an alternative photo identity document,” the Delhi electoral office said.

Voter slips have been distributed by booth level officers at the residence of voters, it added. “Any undistributed voter slips can be obtained by electors concerned at voters’ assistance booth outside polling stations on the day of polling,” the election office said.

“One can check his name either on ECI’s website www.eci.gov.in or CEO’s Delhi website www.ceodelhi.nic.in.”

“They can also find out the status by texting EPIC Voter ID Card No and sending it to 7738299899 or 1950 or through Android phone application available on the official website of CEO Delhi,” it added.
