Last Updated 06 February 2015, 19:36 IST

With the Karnataka High Court upholding Bengaluru police commissioner's order restricting the entry of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia into Bengaluru, the City police have made elaborate security arrangements for the Virat Hindu Samajotsava scheduled for Sunday.

With apprehensions that Togadia may address the gathering through video conferencing, the police have beefed up electronic set up at the Samajotsava venue, - National College grounds.

The police are on a high alert to ensure that Togadia does not enter the City. “The security has been beefed up at the airport, railway station and major bus stands. We are also keeping a constant vigil across various check points and toll booths. Hundreds of policemen are already being deployed at the venue.

“More policemen will be deployed at the venue on the day of the event. The police are also deployed at sensitive areas and will make sure that no individual will disturb the law and order of the City,” said a senior police officer.

Police co-ordinate

The police are co-ordinating with the counterparts in other districts and have asked them keep an eye on the National Highways and other routes to make sure that Togadia does not come anywhere near the City.

The official said that the reports about Togadia addressing the gathering through video conferencing was mere rumours.

“As of now, there is no such apprehension. His entry into the City was banned because of his incendiary speeches. We will not allow even his speech through video conferencing. We do not want to leave any stone unturned when it comes to security and harmony,” added the officer.
