Cold wave persists in North

Last Updated 06 February 2015, 20:08 IST

Most parts of north India on Friday witnessed cold conditions with mercury in Kargil of Jammu and Kashmir plunging, even as Delhiites experienced a sunny day after early morning chill.

After a chilly morning in Delhi with dense fog delaying 32 trains, the mercury soared as the day progressed settling at 24.5 degree Celsius, two notches above normal.

An intense cold wave gripped Kashmir and Ladakh region with the minimum temperature dropping to 21 degrees below the freezing point in Kargil on Friday.

Though bone-chilling winds lashed the region as night temperatures fell below the freezing point, the maximum temperature showed comforting increase in Kashmir due to sunny days.
