Couple, child suffer burns

A couple and their one-and-a-half-year-old child were injured in a fire accident at their residence in Rajendra Nagar in Adugodi in the early hours of Wednesday.

Kumar, 28, a construction worker, his wife Kasturi, 24, and their son Mithun are the injured. While Kasturi and Mithun are said to be out of danger, Kumar is in a critical condition.

Around 4.30 am, Kumar went to the kitchen and turned on the regulator knob of the gas cylinder.

As his son was crying, Kumar went out to pacify him. After 15 minutes, he went back to the kitchen carrying his son and lit the stove. He did not realise that he had turned on the regulator knob and the gas had leaked. As he lit the stove, the flames spread and Kumar and his son suffered burns. Hearing their screams, Kasturi ran to their rescue and she too suffered injuries.

Soon, the neighbours rushed to their house and broke open the door. They doused the flames and shifted them to Victoria Hospital. According to the doctors, Kumar has suffered serious burns and is in a critical condition, while Kasturi and Mithun are out of danger.
