What you just cannot miss about the garments made by designer Kamal Raj Manickath is the perfection that he has achieved in design, cut and colour. He keeps pace with the changing tastes of young people and gives them exactly what they want. His western line comprising short and fitted dresses, gowns and short skirts are just as impressive as his traditional collection.

It was his interest and determination to make unique but wearable clothes that got him hooked onto the fashion industry.

“I have noticed today, unlike a few years ago, designers have begun to make wearable, practical clothes. That’s a remarkable change,” says Kamal Raj Manickath.

Kamal doesn’t want to look at ‘fashion’ as just a term. He thinks the word ‘fashion’ must fire the imagination of designers and inspire them to come up with something new and innovative.
He thinks that the fashion industry is changing at a drastic pace and observes that designers today are making more wearable clothes.

“Those designs that hit the ramp at fashion shows are practical. And there’s a whole bunch of talented lot who are willing to experiment and create something new,” he
states.

“Fashion is not just a term but a personal statement that you always want to carry. Thus, western wear like gowns, tunics, dresses whenever worn, should make you feel elegant, comfortable and definitely confident. And yes, when it comes to some accentuation of the garment,
I don’t mind making it dressier by adding some
embroidered effect to it,” he says.

Kamal designs largely for women and thinks every woman has a definite choice when it comes to fashion.

“According to me, everybody wants a unique piece. As far as fashion is concerned, I have many clients who look forward to getting something exclusive everytime  they come to me for a design. Today, women are very particular about what they are wear and that it should suit their body type,” he reasons.

Kamal thinks that an ensemble is complete
only when it’s a fusion of all three important aspects — silhouette, colour and the
design.
