Rajasthan Police on Friday filed a chargesheet against the main accused and seven others who allegedly raped a Japanese tourist two weeks ago in Jaipur district.

Earlier, police had arrested seven people in the case, after which the main accused Ajit Singh, a tourist guide, surrendered at Dudu police station.

Police have filed charges of gang-rape, kidnapping, voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful confinement, extortion, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. The chargesheet was filed before the local magistrate in Dudu.

On February 8,  the 20-year-old Japanese tourist was raped on an isolated roadside in Mojamabad village.

The tourist had come to the Jaipur and was visiting Jal Mahal when 24-year-old Ajit Singh lured her on the pretext of taking her sightseeing.

He took the victim to a few tourist places during the day on his motorcycle and late at night raped her at a deserted spot.

After  recovering the motorcycle and following the details given by the victim, the police nabbed the suspect's friend, who initially expressed ignorance about the incident.

But after a brief interrogation, he revealed the identity of the accused. Later the others arrested in the case named relatives of the accused who helped him leave the city.

Four days back, Ajit Singh surrendered. During interrogation he admitted raping the woman.

With the help of friends and a few relatives he had left for Agra and later to Delhi. He surrendered when he ran short of cash to survive in Delhi. Meanwhile, Rajasthan police released his  photograph and alerted police of the neighboring states.
