Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the State Cabinet will take a decision on the amendments to the Land Acquisition Act effected by the Central government through an ordinance.

Addressing reporters, he said: “The rules in this regard are being framed and would be finalised soon. A decision will be taken after discussing the issue in the Cabinet.”

Launching a tirade against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Siddaramaiah said: “Modi government is anti-farmer and it is evident with the changes brought to the Act, only to benefit the corporates.”

He reiterated that no permission will be given to Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Praveen Togadia, All India Majilis-e-Ittihad Al-muslimin (AIMIM) MP from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi and also Popular Front of India (PFI) to conduct any convention henceforth.

The Congress government is committed to protect the interest of the State by initiating stringent action against any force, be it the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Bajrang Dal or PFI, that try to disturb peace and harmony in the society, said Siddaramaiah in the wake of continued violence in Shivamogga on Friday.

The chief minister assured of action when it was brought to his notice that the PFI was circulating provocative messages on social media. As a precautionary measure, the PFI’s plea for conducting a rally at Chamarajanagar too is turned down, he said.
