CMR Institute of Technology recently held a two-day national level cultural and technical fest called, ‘CMR Cultura 2015’. Speaking after inaugurating the fest, Naveen Kamat, South Asia Business Head, IBM urged the students to put in their best in all the competitions. He said that these competitions indirectly shaped the student’s careers and helped build their personality.

The fest saw the participation of more than 2,000 students from across the country. It was a perfect blend of creativity and managerial skills. Every event was worked around the theme of ‘Education for All’. There were some interesting and exciting competitions such as ‘Battle of Bands’, ‘Beat Boxing’, ‘Quiz’, ‘Grab the Can’, ‘Fine Arts - Painting’ besides the usual competitions such as Western and Indian group dance, Indian light music, debate competition, street play, Mad, Treasure hunt Robotics etc.

Among the events, ‘Battle of The Bands’ drew the maximum number of participants who head banged and jumped to the enthralling music of the bands. There were more than eight teams participating with their strings and the drums.

It was a tough competition and the winners were the ‘Space’ and the runners-up were ‘Whats in a Name Reincarnation’ from  Dayananda Sagar Institutions.

The students observed that every event was thoughtfully structured to bring out the best in them. Vishal, a participant said, “Rhythm is the key to being a good musician, success can be achieved if one follows one’s passion.”  Steeve from Reva Institute of Technology who participated in ‘Robotics’ was in a jubilant mood to showcase his robot which performed several challenging tasks. “This project has been my dream”, he said. Syed Zeeshan, another student from ICAT said that he was thrilled to see such a huge crowd.

Rahul, a student of Christ University who participated in the team-building event, said
that this management event enabled students inculcate and build group activity and organisational skills. Jagdeesh of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, one among the several students who participated in gaming event, said the atmosphere was conducive and unleashed healthy competition. Krutika of Mount Carmel College who won the second prize in the classical dance category said she was thrilled to perform before such a large crowd.

The winners got to take away cash prizes and trophies.
