Guardless ATM damaged as miscreant tries to break it

A miscreant damaged the ATM kiosk at Apollo Hospital on Bannerghatta Road in an attempt to break it open under JP Nagar police limits on Sunday. There was no security guard at the ATM.

The incident occurred at the ATM kiosk of Axis Bank at around 1.15 am. The CCTV footage has captured one person attempting to break open the ATM machine. He fled the spot immediately after damaging the glass pane, an official said.

The police commissioner had issued directions to banks to ensure mandatory security at ATMs across the City. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar said that a review meeting will be held in the first week of March to discuss the guidelines issued in this regard.

Youth murdered

A 27-year-old man was bludgeoned to death in Mahalakshmi Layout police limits.
The victim Hemanth, a resident of Nagarabhavi, had gone out with his friends on Sunday night. Police suspect Hemanth was killed after a quarrel broke out among the friends.

The body was found in a heap of waste near Iskcon temple on West of Chord Road. Some morning walkers spotted the body and informed the police. The murder could have occurred elsewhere and the killers might have dumped the body near Iskcon temple late in the night, the police said.

The deceased was unemployed. The police are trying to track down the friends of Hemanth.The Mahalakshmi Layout police have registered a case.
